3) Write all answers to Part 1 Chapters 4-5 of study guide for second exam over content in Engineering Fundamentals on the handout by the end of class on Tues, 2/24. Use uploaded copy of the study guide to write answers in notebook if no handout is available. On Wed., 2/25, submit answers on GradeCam answer sheet and get results. Study results for exam over chapters 4-5 of Engineering Fundamentals on Thur., 2/26. Write page reference where you found proof that each answer is correct next to each question on the handout for more than half credit.
4) Use uploaded presentation for chapter 6 to complete Test Your Knowledge questions 1-15 on page 112 by 2/26 and Communicating about Engineering #2 on page 113 by 2/27. Finish chapter 7 Test Your Knowledge questions 1-11 on page 135 of Engineering Fundamentals by Tue., 3/3.
**Use textbook or printed out slides for Engineering Fundamentals chapters 4-7 to answer all questions on study guide for last exam on content from textbook. Write chapter and number of slide used as proof for each answer, for example, S4.5 as 5th slide of chapter 4. Copy page number with note of left or right column of information as proof for each answer found in the textbook.**
5) Answer questions on study guide over chapters 6-7 of Engineering Fundamentals. Bubble answers on GradeCam answer sheet for chapters 6-7 with proof from slides or textbook for each answer by 3/4 and get results.
7) Use corrections of errors to prepare for test over EF Chapters 6-7 on Thur., 3/5.
8) Use handout on 1st project to revise and/or edit hard copy of infographic on 1st choice career. 1a) Open uploaded file Remind 1st, use your student email to follow directions and join Remind for your class by 1/8/26. Return signed syllabus by 1/13. Also, submit Paxton Patterson and General safety contracts by 1/13. Get green journal and use a blue or black Sharpie to write your name, subject and block on the plastic cover by 1/8. Number top right corner of front and back sides of each sheet in journal. Each side is a page; so, 100 sheets in each journal will give pages #1-200. Leave green journals and folders in green crate for 1st period.
1b) View Lab Safety at Lab Safety Video (youtube.com) and watch videos on using a fire extinguisher at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDI073TW9sY, an AED at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAa_C0SIqiE and PPE at PPE: PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT - YouTube. Take notes on these clips in journal and finish test over lab safety by 1/9.
1c) Join Paxton Patterson course at Paxton Patterson by 1/12 and complete Lab Basics in LMS there by 1/23/26. Take Checkpoint Test from main menu of Lab Basics module on Thur., 1/15. The menu shows a list of Days 1-5 and activities. The test is below Day 5. This access should make all test scores show in LMS.
2) Enter title, Using Power Tools Safely, in journal, view Tool Safety at Tools and Equipment - Key points for safe use (youtube.com) and Power Tools Safety (youtube.com), write these titles with notes on videos under Using Power Tools Safely by 1/23.
3a) Use uploaded slides for chapter 1, Ch 1 PPT.pptx from files below, or thin blue textbook, Engineering Fundamentals from atop wood cabinet to answer Test Your Knowledge questions 1-21 for chapter 1 on page 20 by 1/26. Ch 1 Work Scanned is uploaded in files below as image of pages 20-21 from textbook. Complete work in journal on first available page after Table of Contents (TOC) and enter a title like Chapter 1 TYK #1-21 p.20 in TOC. Just write numbers of questions with answers to questions. Finish Communicating about Engineering (CE) #2 on page 21 by 1/26. You may use white paper from laser printer in classroom for timeline.
3b) Use slides or pages in text for chapter 1 to answer #1-8, 22-24 & 28 in study guide for exam 1 over chapters 1-3. List slide number or page number with left or right column where proof that chosen answer is right. Write this information after each answer and exhibit Chapter 1 Timeline by Wed., 1/28.
4a) Use hard copy of Chapter 2 presentation or text, answer Test Your Knowledge questions 1-16 on pages 36-37 of EF by 9/2 and prepare Communicating about Engineering #1 on page 37 by 2/3. Present Chapter 2 Figure by Tue., 2/3/26.
4b) Use uploaded Art01.pdf, the second attached assignment file at bottom of webpage, and information on handout STEM Define and Career Awareness to start the worksheet by Mon., 2/2/26. You may download forms, edit, save and email me typed work at [email protected] or write answers on the handouts.
5) Start STEM bls Career SIMPLE Template grid by Wed., 2/4. This second handout is step 2 of Project 1, making an infographic on preferred STEM Career.
6) Finish Career...Template before technology break on 2/5, use hard copy of Chapter 3 Slides or text & answer Test Your Knowledge questions 1-15 on pages 56-57 of EF. Do Communicating about Engineering #2 on page 57 for presentation to class by Fri., 2/6.
7) Open uploaded file BMT 1 Study Guide EF Ch 1-3 to prepare for benchmark test 1 on chapters 1-3, answer remaining questions on handout, submit answers on GradeCam bubble sheet during 1st block and get results during Excel on 2/9. Take test 1 over chapters 1-3 of EF by Tue., 2/10.
8a) Get information on engineer's notebook and handout on 1st project by 2/11. Discuss notebook/project by 2/11, read through information and start making an infographic on 1st choice career.
8b) Use information from hard copies or uploaded files of Career Simple Template, Examples of Infographics and STEM...Career Infographic.pdf to start infographic by 2/12. NonModular Project 2: Race Car - Motion, Work & Energy (FOR STUDENTS WITHOUT MODULES)
1b) Document progress on design of mouse trap race car on 12/1 through 12/11 for grades on progress as recorded in engineer's notebook and as observed in class. Email links to all used websites with brief description for each link. Be sure to write research from websites & progress with design in journal in format shown in handout on Engineer's Notebook. Please see uploaded rubric for engineer's notebook.
2) Continue work on Mouse Trap Race Car with documentation of progress for all days through Mon., 12/12. Test runs of cars and related collection of data like time that car is in motion, number of rotations of a wheel during travel and distance that car travels must happen by 12/12.
3) Finish documentation of progress on MTRC project with final report on performance of car in Race by 12/16. Show the following in final report:
a. Two trials of data entered on data sheet with related units
b. Use of data to write out calculations of the following:
1. Linear speed and velocity of car during time that car travels
2. Angular velocity of 1 wheel during time that car travels
3. Use videos of test runs to estimate times car took to reach top speed, use these times and velocities in #2 to calculate accelerations of car and of 1 wheel during estimated time.
4. Statement of ranks for distance and speed
5. Overall evaluation of successes and failures of design with suggestions about how to improve speed and distance
