You will want to know all you can about your character because you will present your findings to the class on Thursday and you will receive a grade for the presentation as well as the information you discover about your character.

Bell Work
Get the ACT English Test handout and complete the instructions for "Day 1." It is your handout and you will use it every day this week so feel free to write on it.
Day 1 - Have students look at the questions and answer choices. Do not answer them today. Wrtie down the answer to the following questions for each question, "What skill is it asking you to focus on? What do you notice from the answer choices? Example: I see verbs listed.
Now you will complete the following assignment based on the movie "A Knight's Tale."
Directions: Get on a computer and type a paragraph to answer each of the following prompts. Each part of the prompt should be answered completely in order to get full credit. You should take your time and do your best since this is the only thing I am asking you to complete today (except the bell work).
Write a paragraph discussing Jeff or Chaucer and how he is portrayed in the movie. What does he do for William after he rescues him? What is his downfall or problem in the movie? What stands out about him as a character in the movie?
Write another paragraph discussing life in general during these times. What was the mode of transportation? What were people’s goals in life? How did William overcome the odds against him? What are some of the things that stand out about this time in history?
Write another paragraph about the things in the movie that were out of historical reference for the time period. You should include at least five different things that you saw or noticed or heard that were out of place in the movie.
Now you will get the reading handout "Thomas Becket" and the questions that accompany the reading. You will read the selection to yourself and then answer the questions that go with it. The questions MUST be answered in complete sentences and on your own paper!
Anything not finished before class ends will need to be completed for homework. Turn in anything that is finished before you leave today...

Cut out the hearts of your handout. You and your partner will color the hearts and put them together to make a falcon. It can be 2D or 3D. I will let my other classes vote on the best falcon and the winner will be given a dollar to spend in my store.
Study your answers in order to prepare for a test over the story.
