In your own words, what is a theme?
Copy the notes over "Theme." You will find the notes as an attachment below as "Theme-Lesson.ppt." At the end of the notes, you should also complete the questions for each of the practice stories. All notes and the three practice stories should be together! You must include ALL EXAMPLES in your notes!
Pull up the "Theme Worksheet 4." Read each story and answer the two questions at the end of the stories. You should put these on a separate sheet of paper than your notes, and you should label the paper with "Theme Worksheet 4." Put all answers in complete sentences.
Pull up the "Understanding Theme with Fables Review." You may put these answers on the sheet with "Theme Worksheet 4," but these answers should be labeled as well. These answers should also be in complete sentences.

ACT English Practice Questions 5-7
Watch the video on "Irony" and complete the notes chart as you watch. The notes chart will require you to tell the three types of irony, a definition of each, and an example of each.
We will discuss your findings after everyone has finished. You will have the opportunity to make any changes to your sheet at that time.
You will get the handout "Check for Understanding" and tell which type of irony is being used in each example.
You will then get the handout "Isn't it Ironic?" and read over it. Then you need to create your own example of each type of irony and add it to the handout. You MAY NOT google an example to use. You MUST create your own.
Get the handout "The Interlopers" and complete the definitons only for the "Pre-reading Vocabulary" section.

ACT English Practice Questions 8-11 - Explain why you choose each answer you choose. Turn in the answers and explanations before moving on.
Get the blue literature books and turn to page 428. Use the book to answer the "Previewing Texts" portion of your handout. You should complete parts 1 and 2.
Use your computer to finish defining the words for the story. Then write a sentence using the word in context. If you don't understand the definition given to you the first time, you may need to go a little further. For example, if you google the definition for marauder, you may find that it means "someone who marauds." However, I don't think you know what maraud means so you need to look it up as well. Therefore the correct definition to put for that word is "someone that raids or loots things from others."
Listen to the short story "The Interlopers."
Complete the rest of the story handout that you started yesterday. Be sure to follow AlLL directions for each section of the handout.
