Description
The OSHA 10-Hour Training for General Industry provides safety training, a vital part of many places of employment, and helps to save lives and minimize injuries in the workplace.  Included are several topics related to general industry work such as Personal Protective Equipment, Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Machine Guarding, Lockout Tagout Procedures and more. 
 
Whether you need your OSHA card to meet employer or state-requirements, this course helps employees learn their rights to a safe and healthful work environment as afforded by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
 
General Industry refers to any industry not included in construction, maritime or agriculture and includes (but is not limited to): healthcare, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and retail.

2) View and discuss slideshow on Exit Routes, Fire Protection and Emergency Action and Fire Prevention Plans, answer Knowledge Check questions (KC) with focus on Maintenance Checks not Inspection Checks for KC #9, identify and write about personal experiences with material, evaluate case studies of incidents involving fire hazards and reference OSHA standards while writing recommendations for correction of identified violations by 3rd block.
 
3) View and discuss slideshow on Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection, answer Knowledge Check questions, identify and write about personal experiences with material, evaluate case studies of incidents involving fall hazards and reference OSHA standards while writing recommendations for correction of identified violations by 3rd block.
 
4) View and discuss slideshows on Machine Guarding and Confined Spaces, answer Knowledge Check questions with 1 slide reference per answer for Machine Guarding but just take notes on asterisked slides 2-3, 11-15 & 31-35 of Confined Spaces by 4th block.
 
5) Take exit test over OSHA 10, 18 multiple choice questions.

1a) Introduction to OSHA 10: read description of course at class webpage and watch vintage video, Why OSHA Was Created.  Open slide shows, handouts and assignments from uploaded files in the order listed in the following numbered directions.  I will guide class through content and timed written work/activities so that we meet our 2 day deadline for completion of the course. 
 
1b) Open Word document like your are about to write an essay, save it as OSHA10 D1 Name.  Type work into this document as course proceeds, save frequently and email this work to me at [email protected] as an attachment during 6th period.  I should receive 1 email per day.
 
2) Complete Power-point Introduction to OSHA, email answers for 6 questions at start of slideshow during 1st block and work in groups to complete Topic 4 Workers Rights Crossword Puzzle during 2nd block.
 
3) Complete answers for Intro to OSHA Test which is uploaded below during 2nd block.  Start viewing Power-point Managing Safety and Health and email answers to Knowledge Check  questions by 2nd block. 
 
4a) Take notes on uploaded videos Active Shooter Training and answer all questions in the following slideshows by given times: Hazardous Communications PPT by 3rd block, answer Knowledge Check questions for PPT by 2pm.  Also include notes on slides 2, 5-6, 8-10, 13-14, 16, 18-20, 22, 30, 32 & 34-35.  Study slides 25-27 but notes are unnecessary.
 
4b) Write summary of Workplace Eye Protection video, complete safety training on PPE for head, hands and eyes; take notes on this content; answer related Knowledge Check questions, watch how to take off polyethylene/latex gloves at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xueBYfElFEg and practice by 2:50 pm.
 
5) The written notes on power-point presentations should include all major headings, subheadings of the major ones and at least 1 summarized bullet from each subheading if no specific Slide Numbers are included with assignment.  Answers to Knowledge Check questions must include at least 1 slide reference that contains evidence that the answer choice is correct.  Please include the slide number with each answer.
 
6) Watch and write summaries of 3 Guys Arc Blast and Boom Truck videos by 4th block.  Include definition of arc blast in first summary and give suggestions for how employers/employees could have avoided accidents or could have reduced damage.  View PPT on Electrical Hazards & answer Knowledge Check questions by 9/2.
