Valentine's Day Fundraiser
Buy that special someone a Valentine's treat and help raise funds for the senior prom and graduation festivities. Candy Grams are $.75 or 2 for $1.00. Cookies are 2 for $1.00, balloons are $1.00 each, and off campus lunch pass is $3.00. Carnations may also be purchased. See Ms. Gannon or Mrs. Supakhan or more information. The Valentine's Day treats will be on sale each day during lunch.

Smyrna Bowling Center Donates $500 to the Holloway Media Center
Thank you Smyrna Bowling Center for donating $500.00 to purchase new nonfiction materials for the Media Center at Holloway. The students, faculty, and staff will benefit from the donation for years to come.

Online Book Fair to Benefit the Media Center
We are raising money to update our school library collection by hosting an Online book fair. School libraries are important to education, and the average age of our nonfiction collection is 1996. We need your help in updating our resources. Visit www.librarybookfair.com to purchase updated books for the library October 1 through December 20, 2011.

Holloway Students Participate in Commerical
Several students at Holloway participated in a commerical for the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Rutherford County (CADCOR) and the Tennessee State Department of Mental Health. Fall Break
Rutherford County Schools will be closed the week of October 3 for fall break. School resumes on Monday, October 10, 2011.

Holloway High School Professional Clothes Closet
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), sponsored by Mrs. Supakhan, is establishing a Professional Clothes Closet for students attending Holloway. The clothes closet will be available for students needing attire for interviews, job fairs, professional events, and presentations. Parents and seniors, don't miss the Next Step Parent Meeting in Mrs. Supakhan's room on Thursday, August 25, from 6 - 7 p.m. There will be important information on scholarships, college admission requirements, deadlines, and more. Representatives from Tennessee Technology Center, MTSU, the Armed Services, Trade Schools, and others will be talking with parents and seniors about opportunities after high school.

Big Lots Contest - Holloway Wins Second Place
Thank you to everyone that voted for Holloway in the Big Lots Lots2Give Video Contest. Holloway won a $2,000 second place prize and $944 for the Big Lots in-store program. Thank you Big Lots!

Summer Break
Summer break has begun. Students and teachers enjoy your summer, and we look forward to seeing you again in August. Teachers return to school on Tuesday, August 2nd, and students come for a two hour day on Wednesday, August 3. The first full day of school for students is Monday, August 8th.

2011 Graduates
Awards Day/Senior Picnic is scheduled for Thursday, May 12, at 10:00 a.m. The senior breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13, and will be followed by the graduation rehearsal at MTSU Murphy Center Complex from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Seniors will return to Murphy Center that evening by 6:15 p.m. for line-up. Graduation will start at 7:00 p.m.

Athletic Banquet Wednesday, May 9
Holloway athletics will be honored at the Athletic Banquet at Patterson Park on Monday, May 9, at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for parents and guests are $5.00.

Two at Holloway Win YMCA Awards
Holloway student Charlisia Frazier and teacher Sarah Wells won the outstanding student and educator award from the Rutherford and North Rutherford County YMCA. The award recognizes outstanding students and teachers that have demonstrated leadership and dedication to their schools and/or communities.

Prom Fundraiser at Kirkenburts Smokehouse Grill April 12
The Breakfast Rotary Club of Murfreesboro is sponsoring a fundraiser for Holloway's Prom at Kirkenburts Smokehouse Grill on Cason Lane Tuesday evening, April 12. Ten percent of all sales that evening will go to Holloway in support of the senior prom. Spread the word and we look forward to seeing everyone at Kirkenburts on Tuesday evening.

The Hawks Baseball team have a home game on Tuesday, April 5, against Christian Community School at 5:00 p.m. The Hawks Soccer team have a home game on Thursday, April 7, at 4:00 p.m.

Prom 2011
The senior prom is on Friday, April 15, from 7 - 10 p.m. on board the Music City Queen. Please join us for an evening of mystery and intrigue at the Masquerade Madness Prom 2011. Guests board the boat at the General Jackson ramp located behind Opry Mills. Lifetouch Photography will take pictures from 6:00 until 6:45 p.m. for those wanting to purchase memory keepsakes. Tickets are $55 and may be purchased from Mrs. Palmer or Mrs. Wells.

The Hawks play the Heat on Thursday, March 31, at Heritage Farms Ballfield at 5 p.m. This is the Hawks first season playing baseball. Come to the game and show your support.

Greenhouse Ministries Provides FREE Health Screening
The Mobile Health Unit will be at Holloway on Wednesday, March 16, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for FREE health screenings. The health screenings consist of comprehensive lab work (FAST for 10-12 hours prior to test--drink water only) that checks for heart, liver, kidney functions, cholesterol, glucose, iron, soduim, and potassium levels. The screenings also include blood pressure, body composition and height and weight. Wear sleeves that can be rolled up for the lab draw and blood pressure. EEOG's 10th Annual Project Leadership and Training Conference
This opportunity is open to students interested in learning about the business world. It is a chance for enterprising students to learn to network with top entrepreneurs, business executives, and political power-brokers. Interested students should see Mrs. Palmer for more information. Holloway Mourns Loss of 2008 Graduate

Paul Mitchell Representative Visits Holloway on September 9
A representative from Paul Mitchell will be on campus Thursday, September 9, during Hawk Time to discuss career opportunities with students interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology.

Cheer Squad Has Been Selected
The Holloway Cheer Squad has been selected. Mrs. Smith, the Cheer Sponsor, said everyone put forth a valiant effort during the tryouts, and the following students made the squad: CaPree Brice, LaShonda Bush, Marquish Coleman, Rebecca Evans, Shakeela McAdoo, Diamond Neuble, Amy Scott, MeKayla Timms, Lauren Waldmiller, Lindsey Waldmiller, and Bethany Waters. Holloway Receives a Driving Simulator
The Discovery Center recently donated a "Driving Simulator" to Holloway High School for the Drivers Education Class. This is the first time Drivers Education has been offered at Holloway, and the driving simulator adds a whole new and exciting dimension to teaching the class. Thank you to the Discovery Center!

Holloway Wins Projector from Red Cross
Holloway High School won a projector from the Red Cross organization recently. Schools that held at least two blood drives during the 2009-2010 school year were entered into a contest for a digital projector in which Holloway won. Patty Wright, Red Cross Representative, delivered the projector to Mr. Bridgeman, Principal, and Mrs. Palmer, Librarian, on Wednesday, August 18.

Holloway receives $5,000 from Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant
Holloway has been selected to receive $5,000 for the 2009-2010 Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant from the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation for Operation Gymnasium. The money will be used to construct sports lockers and cabinets in the gymnasium for the visitor team locker room. THANK YOU Lowe's!
